Beauty and the Beast - 3

Ok. So far I've been writing on 'beauty' 'beauty', 'beauty'. This time I'm writing on the "Beast".

You know what I mean. The secret thoughts you have that you won't admit to having or tell anyone. When you go examine members of the opposite sex (I'm not going to promote any homo iss - No). What's the stuff you really** look at?

Most of us would claim - their eyes, their heart, their minds, their virtue and morals. Few of us however actually mean that. That's the truth. As we're there claiming we want 'inner beauty' one eye is roving over the back of the girl walking by, or for the ladies - one eye is slowly examining each dividing line of the rock-hard abs sported by either the shirtless gym trainer or the nearby course rep undergoing an ECG test.

You know what I'm taking about. :|

So......Guys.

What we get on and freaky about is honestly very very superficial. (Yes - I know proper English enough to know that you don't use an adjective twice in a row - I'm using creative license here plz. Lemme :|  )

"The butt. The chest. The hips. Those have got to be real big" says a friend I won't mention. (You may have correctly guessed I paraphrased here to keep decency ;)  ) For guys, most of the time the bigger the better - obesity doesn't count. Of course, there's the concept of the 'Thick Chick' but I really don't have too much knowledge on that to write anymore sorry. Maybe I'll get more. Better still - with a flat tummy and lack of bigger than life 'yams' (for our city peepz and foreigners - that means calf muscles).

Of course one thing that CANNOT be forgotten is skin color. "Them yellow girls be stealing these men's hearts like some politicians steal money" says a person I know well.

Some people go and start preaching "black beauty" but turn around the next day looking white. It's gotten so bad that ladies have begun bleaching their skin like it's a piece of cloth and some end up looking like human leopards. 

All in search of surpassing every other girl out there to be "the fairest of them all". In the end these girls ruin their "outside" so much no man attempts to look for any kind of 'inner beauty'. Can you blame them kwan. Won't you run too?

There's so much to mention on the superficiality beauty these days that it's even ridiculous. The contradictions between the dressing and the acting is yet even worse. You wear pushup bras that push mountains and planets and then cover your chest with one hand when you speak to others. You wear miniskirts that might as well be called 'nanoskirts' and then struggle to pull them down when they start riding up to be 'decent' as if any difference is made.

I mean, don't let me get started on the eyebrows issue here sef. Ladies. You know yourselves. You shave your eyebrows because you want to draw up 'perfect ones', but end up looking like you've got genetic defects on your forehead. But why...?

I'm not here to pass judgement on you. Innocent or not. I'm not here to say either way. How would I know? I've lived and experienced enough to know you shouldn't go judging books from their covers after all. Even from the first few pages you probably shouldn't judge them either yknow? There's nothing wrong in "looking good", but you should make sure you're comfortable looking that way. Truth be told, you can't say you're comfortable if you have to check or cover yourself one way or another anytime a guy passes by. We're all guilty once in a while of vanity. But sometimes there are those of us who take it too far. You try so hard to please guys in ways that the guys themselves warn their sisters and daughters against. Because they honestly know the truth. 

Don't let insecurity ruin the beauty you were born with.

Keep yourself as you are and focus on the inner you. The better you. You** are Beauty. Beauty is what happns when there's a smile in your heart. Don't chase it. No need to end up looking like a Beast. These days boys are running after hot chickens, forgetting some of them girls are a nightmare dressed like a daydream...
