Mother became an orphan that night.
The night was warm, and I was in my room relaxing from the day's work when I heard shouting from the room grandma stayed in. I sprinted to her room, trying as hard as I could to imagine positive things, pushing the negatives out of my mind...
...we need to get her to the hospital
...tires screeching
...I'm sorry but I can't feel a pulse
...she can't be dead

A Piece Written for You
[3 min read]
I was seated in a car one hot afternoon when I became conscious of something warm and moist against my arm. Without looking down to confirm, I knew what it was, so I instead looked at the person, and from one look, I understood her. She is a woman, a mother and a sacrificial one at that. Her hands were filled with callouses from working too hard to make a living. There was no way she was as old as she looked; her face was etched with lines. Too many lines. I could have adjusted or moved my arm, I could have, I don't like the feeling of another person's sweat on me, still, I didn't move my arm. I just sat there and imagined her life and it humbled me.

A LETTER TO MY BEST FRIEND
[7 min read]
I remember the first day I saw you, I mean actually saw you. We had always been in the same class, but for some unknown reasons, I just never saw you.
It was visiting day, and my parents couldn't make it, because they had to travel with my sick brother for treatment, so I was really unhappy. I didn't have so many friends and my only close friend, Jane, had disappeared without a trace. I was seated at my desk, flipping through my books, looking at my test scores and trying not to feel bad for myself, when I felt a light tap on my shoulder.

African Big People
[3min read]
Hey. For the sake of this article, let’s define big people as adults and parents/ Aunties/ Uncles and all the other big people.
Now, many a times we see memes describing how African parents behave and react to certain situations and we laugh. Or those for the evil aunties who don’t mind their business. Yes, it is funny. I laugh myself. Different people have blown on different social medias due to these videos and memes that have been made on this subject matter. But while we laugh and point fingers back to certain people that we know behave in such manners, how many of us actually sit back and evaluate our own attitude?

"My mother loves art"
He said from behind me.
Infront of us a man in a painting,
Who was suddenly smiling.

A piece written in red

There is a monster in all of us.
Some may be big, others quite small,
But then there is a drive,
One big or small, or busy like a hive.

Lessons we learnt from the Presidential debate
[5min Read]

The Presidential debate held on the evening of 19th of January, 2019 or well, something like it held.
You probably watched and enjoyed a group of
intellectuals brainstorm. Another group probably was too upset about the
absence of the big guns. Yet another arrived at a factual destination that this
columnist arrived at a long time ago, the fact that we’re practically toast as
a nation.
Others didn’t even bother. Now whether you were a
glass half-full or glass-half empty sort of person is of no real worry to this
columnist.
Time for some objectivity though.

The Old Dancer
[3min Read]
My favourite music artist of all time will probably always be Michael Jackson.
For many of you that know me personally, it would not be much of a surprise. For some of you it may be, as you may think I can't sing or dance - because it looks med school has turned me into a serious machine. (Not true by the way).
If you had asked me 10 years ago who the best dancer worldwide was, I would have replied with his name. I was amazed with his moves. I loved his music. I loved how bigger than life he seemed. How deeply people loved him, even people who knew nothing but his songs and his name. He was the innovator of dance, and he changed music forever.

Shades and reflections
[3 min read]
When I was young, I wore shades of bright colours and I saw the world in its reflection.
I've always loved trying new things, maybe it was just to feed my curiosity.
Heard that growing up was hard, but I couldn't wait to be a year older, I would round up my age and keep my teeth locked hoping they won't ask for my year of birth.
I loved to take up responsibilities; worked hard to be somewhat mature at least for my age.
