12 Things on Having Nigerian Parents

1. We all know this one for sure; relaxing somewhere at home and you hear your name being called, and walahi, when you go to answer, all you have to do is get the remote, key, phone or something just by their side.
5 inches away oo...

2. When we ask our parents if we can go visit a friend. "Go where?"... "Go and read your book".
Funny how the parents of those friends tell them the same thing.

The Casualties

THE CASUALTIES
By Boluwatife Afolabi

Ifem,

Life is a battle
and like all similar debacles
we must deal with casualties,
cry for them,
become them even-

Husbands,
too broken to return-
to eager wives
to hungry kids
to randy mistresses.

It is the story of individuals trying to find their place within uncertain political times. - A story of passion and idealism,  courage and betrayal.

REVIEW
A beautifully written story, that spans across three continents. Manyika intelligently spices up the novel by introducing about 5 different languages ranging from; English, Yoruba, Nigerian pidgin, French and wolof.

SPECTRAL (2016) - Movie Review

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Review: Are you looking for a blend of modern day military action coupled with feasible sci-fi and a touch of the supernatural? You will not be disappointed. Position a highly trained spec-ops team in a counter insurgency situation, within a European city, and introduce a lethal foe impartial to flags and ideals - one outside of the visible light spectrum. All parties quickly learn that their training and weapons are practically useless against these, seemingly indestructible, new players. Has the enemy deployed the ultimate secret weapon? Is it advanced tech? Or  is it the supernatural?  Unconventional warfare takes on a whole new meaning.

15 things every teenager needs to hear

I remember when I was much younger, as a teenager; with raging hormones, pimples (soooo many), and the feeling of invincibility coursing through my veins. I was the superstar of my own story, but I was still very confused as to what that story actually was. I’ve discovered, like many of us out there, that there are a lot of things that could have helped me navigate my story and discovery much easier – if only I had heard them.

Well, to all the teenagers out there, we’re here to make sure you DON’T miss out on that gift. These are the things every teenager needs to hear – the truths in many dimensions.

1. Surprisingly, hard work is not everything.
Surprising, right?
But hard work IS important – because laziness will get you nowhere. But sometimes you also need to work smarter. On that note, tradition is also not everything. Learn new things and don’t assume things about others when you’ve never met them, or if you met them first on a bad day.

2. You will make mistakes.
Shaa make small ones
A lot. With friends, with actions, with life choices at times. Not everybody makes the same mistakes, and don’t even try to make them all. Learn from the mistakes of others, and listen to those older than you – the good ones o, not the bad ones. No matter what, always pick yourself up, because you can recover from anything, no matter what it is, even if it seems like your world wants to end. It’s okay to be wrong – as long as you accept your mistakes and learn from it, and makeup for what you can.

Top 10 things every 100 level ABUAD student needs to know

By Ese-Oghene Ujevbiruvbe

1. Choose your friends carefully

The friends you choose would either finish happily and successfully with you or ruin you. Choose them wisely (Especially the ones that love sharwama😉🙃)

2. How to handle Congresses

If you are going for it go. Otherwise do not hang around aimlessly except you are actually looking for who to send you there. Most important if you are not going, stash your gadgets safely.

Classroom of Angels

A Pastor was speaking about prayer being taken out of public schools. First he said; I get a lot of mail taking about " God being kicked out of school ". Let me tell you, if there is any kicking to be done, God will be the one doing all the kicking. When a Christian child is dropped off at school,God does not abandoned them at the front door.

BREAK (Temporarily Unable To Dispense Love)

Every system, mechanical or electrical, is designed to require breaks. When a system is being worked out, when it looks like the system is being overused, when there's overheating, when it begins to show signs of malfunctioning - then a break is needed.

I'm sure you must’ve gotten one of those messages from your bank stating that “the online banking system is down and going through a routine check”. At such times, it might not be convenient for the users, but its expedient it happens so that a more terrible thing doesn’t occur. When using a computer system, we would say it’s getting hot and let it rest for a while. A vehicle driving for so long deserves some form of rest after getting on with one long distance journey, or the other, from one place to another.
