The Cat Came Down

[2min Read]

The Pastor had a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and then was afraid to come down. The pastor coaxed, offered warm milk, etc. The kitty would not come down. The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the pastor decided that if he tied a rope to his car and drove away so that the tree bent down, he could then reach up and get the kitten.

That's what he did, all the while checking his progress in the car. He then figured if he went just a little bit farther, the tree would be bent sufficiently for him to reach the kitten. But as he moved the car a little farther forward, the rope broke.

The tree went "boing!" and the kitten instantly sailed through the air-out of sight. The pastor felt terrible. He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they'd seen a little kitten. No. Nobody had seen astray kitten. So he prayed, "Lord, I just commit this kitten to your keeping," and went on about his business...

Classroom of Angels

A Pastor was speaking about prayer being taken out of public schools. First he said; I get a lot of mail taking about " God being kicked out of school ". Let me tell you, if there is any kicking to be done, God will be the one doing all the kicking. When a Christian child is dropped off at school,God does not abandoned them at the front door.

Let me read you a letter from a third grade elementary school teacher. The sum of the letter was as follows;......

Water Drops

It was one of the hottest days of the dry season. We had not seen rain in almost a month. The crops were dying. Cows had stopped giving milk. The creeks and streams were long gone back into the earth. It was a dry season that would bankrupt several farmers before it was through.

Every day, my husband and his brothers would go about the arduous process of trying to get water to the fields. Lately this process had involved taking a truck to the local water rendering plant and filling it up with water. But severe rationing had cut everyone off. If we didn't see some rain soon... we would lose everything.

It was on this day that I learned the true lesson of sharing and witnessed the only miracle I have seen with my own eyes. I was in the kitchen making lunch for my husband and his brothers when I saw my six-year old son, Billy, walking toward the woods. He wasn't walking with the usual carefree abandon of a youth but with a serious purpose. I could only see his back. He was obviously walking with a great effort...trying to be as still as possible.

The New Normal

Do the killings, and bombings, sound normal? Are they becoming less strange and more ‘usual’? Will you say you have gotten used to the bad news?

You know, I wonder sometimes if bad news is still tagged ‘bad news’ or if it's now one of those things.

My Heart Has A Fever

My Heart Has A Fever
By The Anonymous Me

My heart has a fever. And it seems you're the infection. You've infected my mind and now there's a toxin addiction

Emotionopathy - Grade 3; a traumatic emergency. See..... I'm trying to be free of you; but there's new complications.

I've got my heart inflammed and my love set on fire. There's a whole new classification and it's named after you.

The Impossible Love

Did you ever fall for someone you know you shouldn't?
Try hard to fight your feelings, but you just couldn't?
You, fall deeper with each passing day,
But, try to hide it in every possible way.
He's only a friend, and nothing else--
That's the lie you keeping telling yourself.
You keep on saying, he's just a bud,
But deep inside, you're falling in love.

The First Time I Fell in Love

"Love is blind, because Mother started loving me - before she saw my face"

The first time I fell in love
By Jamike Ekennia-Ebeh
--------------------------------------------

The first time I fell in love; I couldn't understand it.
I was then so young and felt life was a gambit
But to me it didn't matter, this was love at first sight
It was a love that felt, even, righter than right
So I gazed at love.... and love gazed back
See.....the first time I fell? I fell right on track

The Stony Heart

The Stony Heart
The rumors and whispers are at it again
They tell of a heart turned icy within
With veins of marble, and walls of stone
Interior muscle - the colour of bone
But what could have turned such an affectionate heart,
To a mettle of flesh, so stone cold dark?

Change and Stereotype

It doesn't always seem so obvious does it? When someone suddenly changes who they, how they act, dress and talk? Imagine that "innocent" boy you knew down the road, popped into university for a while, and came home a master weed smoker. Or that cute girl you used to be friends with, who now puts on excessive makeup and goes to parties almost every night with her new friends because she was told that she isn't "pretty and fun enough" (This can be a controversial example).

It’s one thing to want to change for the better or try something new. It’s something else entirely to want to change for the worse or try something you know will never work for your best. I know how many times I've been made fun of, underestimated or challenged because of the way I present myself and act. I can’t really say I know the entire reason why so many people find a lot faults in the things and ways I have. If however I were asked I would say it all has to do with the issue and problem of the “stereotype”
  • ·         Boys are all players
  • ·         All girls like barbies
  • ·         Teenagers have all had sex before they all hit 20
  • ·         Igbo people love money too much
  • ·        All Nigerians are scammers.
