Confidence, The Superpower
The business executive was deep in debt and could see no way out. Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment. He sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy.
Suddenly an old man appeared before him. “I can see that something is troubling you,” he said. After listening to the executive’s woes, the old man said, “I believe I can help you.”

Triolet 2 - Dear Child
Triolet 2 - Dear
Child
Refrain, dear child, from ways perverse –
Reverse, recoil, retreat, recede;
With wrong doers, do not converse.
Refrain, dear child, from ways perverse:
To you, let them become averse...
Unless on shame you wish to feed,
Refrain, dear child, from ways perverse –
Reverse, recoil, retreat, recede.

My Love Story
By Patsy
He was my childhood friend. I can't remember
how exactly we met, but he was always around. They always talked about him and pushed
me towards him and made sure he followed me everywhere. It caught on. I kinda built
my life around him. I knew what he liked and disliked, and we talked every morning and night before I went to bed. He was mummy's
ideal man for me.
But I grew up.

Engligbo
Ha. Igbo Kwenu!!
"ENGLIGBO"
"ENGLIGBO"
I'm not sure how many of you dear readers
are familiar with this popular bridged term. I first heard it in
secondary school from a teacher, reprimanding my "generation" for
watering down the purity of the igbo language with blobs of English words bubbling
around between our igbo sentences.

The Good Fight
"Sometimes you have to be strong for yourself... Always fight, until you can’t anymore, and then be fought for."
Recently I was pushed by someone to get off
my butt and go about to do good work again. It's why you've been seeing articles regularly on the blog again (**Hides Face**)
I had been trying to live a simple life.
Just me, myself and I. No worries, no troubles, no stress. It didn't last long.
It's not the person I am, I guess. It seems I'm more like peppered fire than a
calm scented breeze.

The Future
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be?”
- Marianne Williamson, Return to Love
Countless years have since past as we've
heard it chorused; In the classrooms, In the streets, In the churches -
"Children are the future", "The youth are the leaders of
tomorrow".
But.... the youth have now gotten old. Some
got so old that their time came and they have even passed away. Yet the same
people who have lead and governed for 30 - 50 years are still leading and
governing today. With the trend we're on, it seems we go further and further in
the past to drudge up leaders from regiments and councils of old to take the
reigns of power.
Are we so incapable, we "youth",
of taking control of our own lives? Our present? Our very futures? Will we
stamp down our heritage? Have we young lions forgotten how to roar? Meant to be
eagles, but unable to soar.

I, Difference
“The world needs dreamers and the world needs doers, but above all - the world needs dreamers who do.” | Sarah Breathnach
I've been witness to a lot of controversial events that have happened around me in the last month or so.
I've been witness to a lot of controversial events that have happened around me in the last month or so.
Granted, not as controversial as a lot of
major things in the world might actually be, such as the killing of numerous
Paris citizens by terrorists, rising of the Naira-Dollar rate to N400, or the kidnapping of a 14 year old girl from her home and family to be converted to a different religion, forcibly married and having her age falsified.
But simply the less grandiose controversies
that get lost in day to day life... in the hustle and bustle of todays' modern
digital and, increasingly, reality detached age. Things that bother a lot of
us, most everyday. Things that need to change. Things that, if left unchecked, only grow bigger and bigger, eventually becoming - or lending a hand - to the
grandiose controversies we see today.
The world we live in, today, is both better and
worse than yesterdays world.

Picture Memories
I'm an extreme photographer :P . I've been known to take quite a few pictures at everywhere i go and anything I do. I take pictures of interesting things, people, sights or events. Anything I'd want to remember or talk about with someone someday.
They say 'a picture is worth a thousand words', and maybe it's true.
You can tell a lot about a person from their pictures. Even a single one.

Submissions! :D
Hi everyone.
Hope you're having a nice day? Yes? Good to know - I hope it gets even better
No? I understand, and though I cannot force you to be happy, remember there's a VERY large percentage of the world who can't either read or use technology like you do, some are even dying - it may be a thin and tiny slice of cake you have, but do enjoy it anyways, it's better than nothing. You deserve to be happy - that's why you're here and alive. Life is happiness :)
Now for the good news!!! :D
We're trying to expand our topic and paradigm base here on this blog and would really love to hear from all the people who have tied to write anything.
It could be a story; a short or long one, a poem, an article, anything at all. Even works of art eg paintings, drawings, pictures etc - a picture says a thousand words after all.
You can also give topic requests if you'd like me to write on something I might be missing out on in the blog. I usually only write on ideas that come to me, things I experience or news I see that needs to be reasoned on. So if there's anything (*grins*) you'd like me to air my personal brand of views on, just request it!! :D

(VIDEO) Still The Same
Now a lot of Christians are out in the world not knowing much about their heritage in Christ, or the power that comes along with it. Many of us just answer “Christian” by name or title, and not by our lifestyle.
We forget that Christian means “like Christ” ie, when someone beholds you, they should see Christ in YOU. You are the Jesus that they see, YOU are the bible that they read, YOU are the image of truth that they can look at right now, right here. They should be able to see the truth in YOU. Not a lie or a sham.
“You are so much more than you can imagine or believe.”

The Wardrobe and The Bank
Ok so apparently our dear ol’ senators are getting 21.5
million naira as “wardrobe allowance” – which to be honest, I’m actually
wondering how the people that came up with this budget managed to provide any
kind of good reason for. Click on read more....

'High' Society

The other day I was going up to my room in
the morning and I passed by two 100 level boys who were discussing how to
increase the amount of business they could give and get for cocaine. "If
you want to sell Crack you have to ask him to extend the period....." and
blah blah blah. I didn't hear the rest. Didn't want to because;
1. I was on a schedule and had things I
wanted to do.
2. It actually really did NOT concern me.
3. Hearing this kind of stufff is the kind if thing that gets you involved in annoying unfair situations.

There's a guy I know in 200 level. Don't
know his department or his name - if I did I still wouldn't tell you :P . He
used to be healthy and full of life - to an extent at least, when he had
started out in 100 level. As of recent since he entered 200 level he has gone
ragged.

Hidden in the glass...
Hidden and open, unseen in the scene
My camouflage holds, a facade unseen
Brave with the shyness, timid with the bold
Young when I want to be, hidden in the old
Hot in the fire, hot In the cold
Hot in the tundras' frozen ice mould

*FIVE* reasons why a woman can make a change in Nigeria
Truthfully? I can
give you 10 reasons or I can give you 1. It all
stands the same if the depth behind the truth of it is clear. But I
will give you these 5 all the same.
The first reason is the 'Understanding of life'.
Only a woman, having the ability to house a living creature inside her body for
9 months would truly be able to give anything to make sure life is what it is
truly meant to be, she would be truly able to see everyone as her child.

Changes to the blog (Jan 21st 2015)
Okay, so a lot of people have complained that the comments section wasn't working out very well for some reason, I've now looked into it and resolved the issue so anyone can now make comments on the posts they want to, like it? Dislike it? Got something or more to point out? Comment on the articles. Have a suggestion? Want me to write on any topic? Go ahead and make your requests :D
I'll entertain as many as I can.
It seems the comment section has problems mainly if you're using the Opera Mini mobile browser to browse the site. Most people who have had success commenting did so by signing in with their gmail/google accounts. It's FAR easier that way. Even on phones using opera mini.
Upcoming changes include
--Addition of poems to the blog
--Disqus community section for interaction with the author(s) on the site
--Addition of more authors who will both moderate the site and write articles
--Categorization of posts, with the tab addions
Comment below if you either dislike/like the changes or want e to do something else new that I haent thought of yet :). Thanks for making this site better ;)

Just to be me
I'm Jamie. Jamike for long ;) .I don't know everything, as much as I would like to pretend to. My name is a bit unique because, according to mother dearest, a mistake was made when the officials put my name on my birth certificate. It's apparently made to be __________.
So on the topic of my being me, and conversely your - "being you". It seems that a lot of people don't know exactly who they are or...

Change and Stereotype
It doesn't always seem so obvious does it? When someone suddenly changes who they, how they act, dress and talk? Imagine that "innocent" boy you knew down the road, popped into university for a while, and came home a master weed smoker. Or that cute girl you used to be friends with, who now puts on excessive makeup and goes to parties almost every night with her new friends because she was told that she isn't "pretty and fun enough" (This can be a controversial example).
It’s one thing to want to change for the better or try
something new. It’s something else entirely to want to change for the worse or
try something you know will never work for your best. I know how many times
I've been made fun of, underestimated or challenged because of the way I
present myself and act. I can’t really say I know the entire reason why so many
people find a lot faults in the things and ways I have. If however I were asked
I would say it all has to do with the issue and problem of the “stereotype”
- · Boys are all players
- · All girls like barbies
- · Teenagers have all had sex before they all hit 20
- · Igbo people love money too much
- · All Nigerians are scammers.
