Why It Matters (#EndSARS)

I haven't written an article in so very long, that it was almost difficult making this one. This has taken me several days already, trying to keep up the fire in me to write this all out. I usually have a lot of thoughts. But these days I haven't had a lot of time or zeal to develop them.

Too many of us have seen the #EndSARS movement sweeping the nation. A movement, that I hope does not end anytime soon, because it is far too important to us as a generation. In just a week; we have shown what our voices and spirits can do when we put our minds to it. Funds have been mobilized to feed, help and protect protesters - with as little as 10-25 million naira being spent so far. And so far, we have seen far more to show for it than the supposed 600 billion naira approved for "COVID-19 palliatives".

At The Pleasure of The President

[5 min read]
Abba Kyari, Nigerian President's Right-Hand Man, Dies - The New ...

On the 17th of April 2020, rumours of the death of Former Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari OON, touched down on various social media platforms in Nigeria. A couple more hours the next day, the President’s spokesmen confirmed the story- the President’s right hand man, long-time political ally and close friend had become the latest victim of the ravaging Coronavirus.

Twerkmaster

[3min Read]

I find it funny when people get angry that a lot of youths seem so obsessed with dancing in multiple shakes and bounces. They get angry that youths aren't "working hard" or "reading hard" all the time.

But the funny thing is, they're actually the people who often promote this obsession in the first place, albeit indirectly.

Think about it like this. When you go to a childrens' party, or any adult event where children happen to attend as well, have you never realized that the only thing they often ask children to do are dance competitions? We actively promote a culture where dancing is given so much extreme emphasis, and rewarded more than almost anything. Why else will they end up in constant worship of body movements?

The High Court of Patriotism

[5min read]

Whenever 4th of July rolls around, Americans move Lee Greenwood’s “God bless the U.S.A” to the very top of their playlist, swaddle themselves with the old glory and watch with the flame of patriotism consuming their hearts, fireworks take flight to the night skies.

Winning a lose-lose situation

[5 min read]

My dearest people, if it isn't too late to tell you Happy New Year, then, let me quickly add that this is your best year yet.

Please accept my apologies for writing to you this late into the month. See when 2018 was coming to a close, I pondered on what to serve my awesome readers at the start of the new year ,but I surprisingly came up with nothing. And when at the beginning of this year, I gave it more thought, all I came up with were the clichés of telling you how to spend your year.

I knew it was getting serious.

Unpopular Opinion - The Rule of Laughter

[4min Read]

Today I opened up my WhatsApp status and saw the same thing on almost 20 different statuses. Color blocking combinations by 100L students of ABUAD.

For those not aware - in my university, students are mandated to wear specific colors that represent their colleges. Green for engineering, White & Black for Law, Blue for social management sciences etc etc.

Now, you have to realize. Not all individuals are blessed with understanding on fashion, color matching and the art of LOOKING GOOD. Take me for example. I wore a school uniform for 6 years of my life, and didn't really have to worry about cool outfits since I didn't go anywhere outside school, church and a few occasions my parents would make me attend.

TRAGEDY IN LAGOS

[2 mins read]

On the 28 of June, 2018, something terrible happened in our ever bubbly city of Lagos. A tanker, which had a brake failure loaded with PMS( Premium Motor Spirit) caught fire around Otedola bridge, Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Several cars with people in them set ablaze as the tanker exploded, it has been reported that 10 commuters burnt to death while 54 vehicles were consumed by the inferno.

This tragedy points out the defect in our road safety system in Nigeria. Under no circumstance should a tank driver endanger his life and others by driving a vehicle with brake failure.  Personally, I blame the Federal road safety corpse(FRSC) for this catastrophic event.  The driver knew that the highest a police could do is take a bribe, and he will be allowed to continue with his journey. Too many innocent lives were lost.

The government needs to enforce strict road safety laws especially to tank drivers or there should simply create a different route in which petroleum can be transported like other well-developed countries.

The picture above shows how petroleum is transported in Alberta Canada. As a nation we Nigerians need to take action. Instead of taking action, our leaders are asking us to pray.  How is prayer going to change bad road, bad security, bad governance, bad health care, bad educational system? It's time for action and prayers.

BANKSTATEMENTS POST 5

[3 mins read]

RIGHT  DOWN THE MIDDLE

Hi @bankstatements18.

I'm in a long distance relationship with a guy that really loves me but then I don't think I know what love is.

First and foremost, we are of different tribes and denominations.. I'm Catholic and my dad is strongly against me moving to another church.. Worst of all, marrying into this particular tribe he's from will be a big problem.

Where Were You?

WHERE WERE YOU
Kelechi Nwa-Uwa

Where were you when she needed you?
When she cried desperately for your attention?
When depression reared its ugly head?
When you were all she had left?

Did you even hear her call out for you?
Did you care?
Did her gradual withdrawal even occur to you?
Did you notice the tear streaks? Red eyes?
The cracked voice? The broken spirit?

The Flair

Among many wonderful grand things, I've been told by some people that I have a flair for the dramatic. The "drama king", they'd call me. The good kind of dramatic, I mean - not the overdo illogical drama screamers.

They say I walk, talk and pose dramatic.
(Do the pictures above, and below look dramatic to you? No, right? I know!! )

Drugs In ABUAD

(1)

So, I'm not meant to be online but I just happened to see this twitter thread that annoyed me so much this very good morning.😡😡😡

I do NOT agree with all the fingers pointing at ABUAD or it's school system as the cause of drug addiction.

I'm just here waiting for their concrete evidence, cuz the majority of ppl I know don't do drugs. All those people need to check the kind of company they keep.👌

Pray For Me

Pray for me
By Layomi Oyelami

I am flowing with milk and honey
My milk is sour, my honey is bitter
Pray for me

I am a giant
Falling at the fling of a stone
Pray for me

I am suffering from a heart failure
While I'm supposedly the heart
Pray for me

"If"

By Paul Harvey

If I were the Devil.....

I would gain control of the most powerful nation in the world.

I would delude their minds into thinking that they had come from man's effort, instead of God's blessings.

I would promote an attitude of loving things and using people, instead of the other way around.

I would dupe entire states into relying on gambling for their state revenue.

I would convince people that character is not an issue when it comes to leadership.

10 things we could learn from Dogs

If we were really very open minded, and interested in viewing the world in an unorthdox way, we would see that  Dogs could teach us things, the simple everyday important things like...

1. When loved ones come home always run to greet them.
Take nothing and no-one for granted. Show love every moment, and in every way.
