Stay in, Eat out

(3 mins read)

Hi guysssssssss, so I am finally back to dish out spicy content as usual. But firstly, I hope y’all are fine and staying safe out there. Remember, there are a million and one tasty recipes waiting to be discovered by us but we can only embark on that journey if you are safe and healthy.

So there have been a lot of lockdown recipes flying around but I realized most of them don’t actually fit the lockdown situation. Therefore, I’ll be doing something a little different today. I’ll be sharing with you easy recipes for two famous and dear to the heart street foods. The idea is for those of us who no longer have access to these snacks or who are skeptical about buying them owing to the current pandemic situation to be able to replicate these snacks in our kitchens with accessible and affordable ingredients. That way, you’re staying home, but not missing out on the street goodies.

PUFF-PUFF
You’ll be needing:
Flour -  3 cups
Instant Yeast-   1 tablespoon
Sugar-   1 cup
Water -  2 cups
A pinch of Salt
Oil for frying

PROCEDURE

  • Sift the flour into a bowl, add the yeast and sugar. Mix them together.
  • Pour in the warm water and mix thoroughly.
  • Cover with foil and a napkin and keep in a warm place for about 45 minutes for it to rise
  • Heat the oil in a deep pan and start frying on medium heat by scooping a sizeable amount with your hands or a measuring spoon.
  • Continually flip till it’s golden brown. Transfer from the pan to a steel sieve to drain the oil
  • Hmmmmm😋
  • Repeat same for the next batch

SUYA
You’ll be needing:
Topside Beef or Steak
Groundnut oil
Seasoning
Suya spice
Skewers

PROCEDURE

  • Cut beef into thin slices and put on the skewers
  • Mix your oil, seasoning and suya spice (to your taste) and coat the beef with it
  • If put in a preheated oven grill, would take about 15 minutes and around the same time for an outdoor grill.

CUT INTO SMALL PIECES AND SERVE WITH VEGGIES OF YOUR CHOICE AND OF COURSE SOME MORE SUYA PEPPER LIKE MALLAM MUSA DOES!

TIPS:
1. Soak skewers in water before use to avoid it getting burnt.

2. Cutting the beef into thin slices is important in getting the desired suya taste, if the beef is too thick, it will taste more like fried beef.

3. If you’re unable to get skewers, you can do without it, just try to ensure your beef slices are a bit long.

I'd love to hear your comments and questions. You could also suggest recipes or hacks that has worked for you. 💗
