The Congenital Remnants of "Seize The Bae"

2015 started with a flash bang. It seemed almost everyone had gotten tired of being the "singularity" in the paired, rib-by-rib, universe that is our world.

"Seize the bae!!"

It was the echo of frustrations which yearned for release. No more, would one walk on the roads seeing a muliplex of oscultating lips at every corner and dark walkways. One must be auscultating too!

No more, would one get jealous when a roommate gets a phone call and keeps on it for hours on end. One must annoy a roommate with mushy love talk as well!

No more, would one pine seeing couples left, right and center holding hands that seemed like they were made for each other. One must latch on to the nearest hand too. If the hand wasn't free, you would free it by force!

Seize the bae!

Karma's A B****

By The Timi Raji

I speak as someone with some experience on naming dogs. I mean, If I had a female dog, I'd name her Karma.

Female dog= Bitch.
Hence, Karma is a bitch. ðŸ˜‡ (can you feel my halo? ðŸŽ¶ )

People, not everything is a sexual innuendo! (If you own a Bible, read Titus 1:15 now😀)

Life in the ABUAD MB...

A lot of people don't know what REALLY goes on in medical school, why medicine students even DARE to choose such a course. Why would you doom yourself to boredom, stress and more books than the average library.

Well, having just passed into the clinical stage of my training, I decided that I'd share a few things and moments of my wonderful world of medicine as a pre-clinical student....

There Was A Time....

There was a time when I was younger I had believed I was the smartest person in Nigeria.... or at least the most prolific in the English Language. I had been surrounded by a lot of people in the urban area that time, and had just recently returned from the United States.

I thought I was the bomb. A genius maybe. Ok, maybe I didn't have a secret basement laboratory to chase my older sister(s) out of, or a huge giant sized (hypertrophied) brain bobbing up and down everywhere I went, or even some kind of red and gold metal semi-robotic suit.

I, just like many of you, felt on top of the world then. I was unstoppable. I was still high on dreams....

The Economy of Dreams

"Knowledge will enrich you, but only action will turn it into riches."
- Darren Hardy

Many of us have side hobbies which we do to engage ourselves, not just for enjoyment - in and of itself, but also fulfillment. We dream of being actors, being music artistes, painters, writers, racecar drivers, astronauts or even the most popular - doctors and lawyers.

But how many of us choose to follow our dreams and become what we want to be?

WHAT THE RICH DON’T WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT MONEY

By Ndu-okeke Michael
Like all typical Nigerian parents will say, “study hard so you can get good grades and a good job afterwards”;  Most of us grew up with the notion that a good job after school is the key to the good life we have always dreamt of.

The Odenigbo Experience: The Intellectual and Cultural Festival

Many people may have heard about the Odenigbo festival, many people may not. All in all, I just decided to use this medium to share a little light on my experience today on the “Intellectual and Cutural Festival” aspect which I attended.

So…..I was asked to go to this festival thing by my dear mother today. She said it was an Intellectual Cultural festival. It was meant to be part of a larger festival named the “Odenigbo” held in Owerri every year. I have a very limited amount of information on it at the moment however, so I will refrain on speaking on matters I do not know a lot about. In this day and age, the end result would be that I’d end up throwing controversy on myself if that were the case.

DC vs Marvel

Hello everyone…..

Now this article might be a little esoteric for people who aren’t either; in my generation of youths or below, or interested in comics/superheroes. As you know – My blog tries to focus on a world view, which is why I have many diverse articles ranging from Chatting and Beauty to Politics.

So…..let us begin :D

The Thankless

I’m sure at some point or time in your life you’ve been faced with a situation, occupation or task in which you put in TREMENDOUS effort and a large amount of your time to achieve the maximum potential of your results can get – all for it to mean so little to the people who either view it or the people you did it for. Not a thank you, not a clap, not a single naira note in your hand for it….

Truthfully, sometimes - It’s painful to be unappreciated. It hurts when you or your work isn’t recognized. But sometimes the work we do isn’t done necessarily because we’re looking for some grand form of appreciation or applause, but simply because it’s a good thing to do – the right thing even. When Girls Ask For Credit....

Ever met a cute, nice looking girl and start talking to her? She seems mostly uninterested, or maybe she's friendly. You think to yourself;  You're on your way to making a new friend, and then BAM!!!

She asks you to send her credit to buy 5gb data plan. Like magic. You, that barely has enough to buy credit to call your own blood sister.

It's sad how a lot of girls these days are just learning ways to exploit guys interest the wrong way. A friend of mine was happily telling us the other day, (when i was in 100 level) how his sister regularly collects credit from the boys who keep calling/contacting her. Something I could NEVER encourage my own sister, or even daughter, to begin, let alone praise her for it. You might not like these things I'm saying at all, but the truth of the matter is - we boys aren't piggy banks and you girls aren't sex toys.

Ten things to never do in Nigeria

This is a short list describing several (actually just 10 :P ) things you should probably never try doing in good ol' Naija. Not just for your sake, or ours too. We have a reputation you know.... :| A good one..... i mean.

1. Buy ****D Shawarma:
Honestly? There are some shawarmas that exist in this world that if you had eaten or tried them first, your love for shawarmas would be sorely inexistent, This type happens to be one of the traitors to that tasty shawarmas name. I have recently changed the name of the institution which offers this shawarma. Those of you who know me will know it all shaa....

2. Buy a pink jeep

DO I even really have to expatiate? On a normal day sef....why would you?! But why.... :(

3. Laugh at a native doctors relatives. (Unless of course if you're a very strong Christian. But then if you were why exactly would you be laughing at a native doctors familia? )

Fashion!!

“Dress cute wherever you go. Life is too short to blend in.” Paris Hilton

By Elizabeth T Peters

Fashion Fashion Fashion!

What is it? Dictionary wise, fashion can be described as “a prevailing custom or style of dress”, but to me, that doesn’t give fashion its due value. In my humble opinion, I would say fashion is more than just a custom; it’s a definition of yourself before you get to say a word. Your fashion speaks; it commands respect or attracts insults - or neither to be very honest.

So you want to go to a birthday dinner and it’s a really chic restaurant and the crowd you’re going with is wonderful. All fine and dandy but what will you wear? This is when key considerations come into play, I’ll walk you through them.

Madonna, Madonna

Madonna, Madonna, my dear alma mater
Still round about, with chatter and clatter
Sandals that squeak, and shoes that groan
And senior students, of whom juniors moan

Madonna, Madonna, my school home of past
How the times have passed, and so very fast
The mistakes and misfortunes, we all passed through
Forget any one, we never will do

The Meaning of Life

"...Meaning does not lie in things. Meaning lies in us.” | Marianne Williamson

"Life is many things, but above all others, it is the chance you've been waiting for." | Robert Brault

Philosophers, sages and bored teenagers throughout history have examined a critical and sometimes controversial question that has churned out an innumerable multiplex of theories and philosophies over the years.

This question is...

"What is the meaning of life."

I'm obviously not referring to either the definition seen in the Oxford dictionary or the one given by romanian pop twins in one of my earlier articles ie "Touch my bum. This is life"

The Hospital!!!???

Okay...so this isn't particularly a general post. This is actually my FIRST post about my school, the other two previous posts were about sports and dangerous life that I've seen in the school, and not the school ITSELF.

Have a first look at the MASSIVE site being cleared for the rumoured state-of-the-art health facility complex being build at the prestigious AFE BABALOLA UNIVERSITY. Right here!! More pictures after the cut (^_^)

You can check out more details n the school itself at www.abuad.edu.ng

#Mistakes

By Mercy Joe

There are two sides to a coin, so it is to life.

I have concealed in my thoughts my doubts about life and its rare favours but lavishing opportunities. At times I get all choked up in my thoughts that most lanes I get myself into were never meant to be crossed.

Submissions! :D

Hi everyone.

Hope you're having a nice day? Yes? Good to know - I hope it gets even better
No? I understand, and though I cannot force you to be happy, remember there's a VERY large percentage of the world who can't either read or use technology like you do, some are even dying - it may be a thin and tiny slice of cake you have, but do enjoy it anyways, it's better than nothing. You deserve to be happy - that's why you're here and alive. Life is happiness :)

Now for the good news!!! :D

We're trying to expand our topic and paradigm base here on this blog and would really love to hear from all the people who have tied to write anything.

It could be a story; a short or long one, a poem, an article, anything at all. Even works of art eg paintings, drawings, pictures etc - a picture says a thousand words after all.

You can also give topic requests if you'd like me to write on something I might be missing out on in the blog. I usually only write on ideas that come to me, things I experience or news I see that needs to be reasoned on. So if there's anything (*grins*) you'd like me to air my personal brand of views on, just request it!! :D

The Killing Expectations – Romance

I strongly disagree with the picture up above. This is the kind of thing that gets relationships, that could have been great, messed up and destroyed. Communication is a two-way process. The phone works BOTH ways. If he refuses to call, then you should try to…. Don’t go giving up on a relationship because of pride. Pride is good for absolutely NOTHING but killing. It will kill your friendship, it will kill your relationships, it WILL kill your connections.

Being Female In Nigeria

A  topic started showing up recently, which I think would be amazing if we looked at it seriously - and helped it gain the recognition it deserves. Many of you may have heard of it, and most of you will actually be affected by it. You may already know it, the trend

#BeingFemaleInNigeria

This hashtag, currently trending on twitter highlights the various socioethical and various other injustices visited on women, mentally, physically or otherwise throughout the country Nigeria, As many of who already live here know, the country is more or less especially patriarchal in nature. Everything mostly seems to revolve around "THE MAN". The man is everything. The man is all that matters,

*Do you have children?  Yes? --->Great

*Are any male?
Yes - Good for you
No - Oh sorry.....don't worry, we will still take care of your inheritance for you.

Online Advice

Ever do a google (or for reason i possibly cannot grasp - yahoo) search for something you needed help figuring out?

- Doing homework?
- Fixing a computer?
- Buying a new phone?
- Talking to girls?

I'm sure you've not only searched for help in SOMETHING, but also seen ridiculous questions and articles. You've most likely even seen a lot of useful ones too. Ones you may have never thought to look up but checked up anyway because it drew you - Maybe out of curiousity, maybe out of interest, maybe out of need or even anger.

The problem however, lies in the seemingly helpful articles that could either give you bad advice or give advice that turns out to be counterproductive.

(VIDEO) Still The Same

Now a lot of Christians are out in the world not knowing much about their heritage in Christ, or the power that comes along with it. Many of us just answer “Christian” by name or title, and not by our lifestyle.

We forget that Christian means “like Christ” ie, when someone beholds you, they should see Christ in YOU. You are the Jesus that they see, YOU are the bible that they read, YOU are the image of truth that they can look at right now, right here. They should be able to see the truth in YOU. Not a lie or a sham.

“You are so much more than you can imagine or believe.”

The Wardrobe and The Bank

Ok so apparently our dear ol’ senators are getting 21.5 million naira as “wardrobe allowance” – which to be honest, I’m actually wondering how the people that came up with this budget managed to provide any kind of good reason for. Click on read more....

Movie Love

I hate romance movies.

I used to be more or less apathetic towards the genre and it’s relations and concepts but lately they just annoy me. A lot now. The fact that a movie will show a story of people being/falling in love within 2 hours is deceitful. Frightfully so.

It’s like showing a football match of Manchester United vs Chelsea within a 2 minute video.

Day Beautiful

I was walking out of my college this lovely afternoon and was amazed at the scenery. It was nothing new. Nothing was added or removed. It was the same scenery I had seen over and over again hundreds of times throughout my stay.

But....

The Democratics

Before you begin reading this article, I must warn you. I was trying to browse up and read these things on Wikipedia and several other unnamed sites and ended up getting more than a little bored and a bit confused.

This represents my view and understanding from the various perspectives I've gleaned at.

You know how several people can bake the same type of cake and it'll taste different? This is kind of what it's like.

Have a bite.

The Impossible Love

Did you ever fall for someone you know you shouldn't?
Try hard to fight your feelings, but you just couldn't?
You, fall deeper with each passing day,
But, try to hide it in every possible way.
He's only a friend, and nothing else--
That's the lie you keeping telling yourself.
You keep on saying, he's just a bud,
But deep inside, you're falling in love.

Blog Hiatus....

Hello everybody....

Due to some pressing issues, I unfortunately have to go on a short leave from making any further blog posts to conserve my time and focus for the moment. I'd love to continue talking and interacting with everyone, but it seems things have gotten a little out of hand with some stuff.

Being a medical student is a bit hard at times. But I love it all the more. Hope to be back soon everyone.

Beauty and the Beast - 3

“People often say that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder,' and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty is realizing that you are the beholder. This empowers us to find beauty in places where others have not dared to look, including ourselves.” **

- Salma Hayek

Ok. So far I've been writing on 'beauty' 'beauty', 'beauty'. This time I'm writing on the "Beast".

You know what I mean. The secret thoughts you have that you won't admit to having or tell anyone. When you go examine members of the opposite sex (I'm not going to promote any homo iss - No). What's the stuff you really** look at?

Most of us would claim - their eyes, their heart, their minds, their virtue and morals. Few of us however actually mean that. That's the truth. As we're there claiming we want 'inner beauty' one eye is roving over the back of the girl walking by, or for the ladies - one eye is slowly examining each dividing line of the rock-hard abs sported by either the shirtless gym trainer or the nearby course rep undergoing an ECG test.

You know what I'm taking about. :|

How NOT to chat...

[5min Read]

I know you guys have read the article on "How to Chat" that was published on the blog sometime ago. I would have hoped that the chatting skills of most people would have drastically improved by then, but alas, my hopes were dashed by the generation that i have the fortune to be included in. There are some things that you would have hoped common sense would solve.....but it seems that common sense in actuality, is not so common.

Read on to find out the most ridiculous things to NOT do, but yet you still do anyway while you chatting.

The First Time I Fell in Love

"Love is blind, because Mother started loving me - before she saw my face"

The first time I fell in love
By Jamike Ekennia-Ebeh
--------------------------------------------

The first time I fell in love; I couldn't understand it.
I was then so young and felt life was a gambit
But to me it didn't matter, this was love at first sight
It was a love that felt, even, righter than right
So I gazed at love.... and love gazed back
See.....the first time I fell? I fell right on track

'High' Society

The other day I was going up to my room in the morning and I passed by two 100 level boys who were discussing how to increase the amount of business they could give and get for cocaine. "If you want to sell Crack you have to ask him to extend the period....." and blah blah blah. I didn't hear the rest. Didn't want to because;
1. I was on a schedule and had things I wanted to do.
2. It actually really did NOT concern me.
3. Hearing this kind of stufff is the kind if thing that gets you involved in annoying unfair situations.

There's a guy I know in 200 level. Don't know his department or his name - if I did I still wouldn't tell you :P . He used to be healthy and full of life - to an extent at least, when he had started out in 100 level. As of recent since he entered 200 level he has gone ragged.

The fault in your stars

The fault in your stars
By Damilola Adewolu

Almost everyone is interested in music nowadays. A huge problem is the kind of music that is out there, most of it is very disturbing and brings a lot to mind. I will take the lyrics of just one popular song pumped  through cylindrical tubes into the mental faculties of a lot of young people today and help you see the fault in that which you appraise as the best and all time favourite song.

We will look at a rap song heavily influenced by deep bass beats carefully orchestrated In a pattern to leave the head of the passive  minded swaying from side to side. Yeah the new banger "love with the coco".

Mature Nonsense - Lyrics

Image result for bad music pictures

I've decided to attack some nonsense in our society with my blog. Todays' article deals with the ridiculousness of some of the most silly song lyrics to ever run over my ear.

Iyanya - "from the couch to the bed, from the bed to the bedroom"

"She carry front, she carry back;she too package.. I can't leave her. Is one of the reason I can't leave... Am loving Uuuu eeh "

D'prince - "Take banana till you go yo"

Beauty and the Beast - 2

“I was brought up to believe beauty is not worth thinking about, what's important is your soul, your mind—you don't want to be a fifty-dollar haircut on a fifty-cent head.”

~Garrison Keillor, We Are Still Married: Stories and Letters

Okay guys. Back on beauty again......

I wrote a article some weeks back on the issue of "beauty". I was taking a pseudo-altruistic view because I wanted to be honest in the depths of the truth of  "real beauty". The beauty that would make the world a better place.

This time we'll be looking at the nature of the beauty that we focus on - today, in the world.

Let's be honest. With these four people in the above pic, who do you think is "more beautiful" . Do you judge beauty by external appearance?

Well most of us do. Be honest, you automatically judged the older ladies as

Hidden in the glass...

Hidden and open, unseen in the scene
My camouflage holds, a facade unseen
Brave with the shyness, timid with the bold
Young when I want to be, hidden in the old
Hot in the fire, hot In the cold
Hot in the tundras' frozen ice mould
