The Economy of Dreams

"Knowledge will enrich you, but only action will turn it into riches."
- Darren Hardy

Many of us have side hobbies which we do to engage ourselves, not just for enjoyment - in and of itself, but also fulfillment. We dream of being actors, being music artistes, painters, writers, racecar drivers, astronauts or even the most popular - doctors and lawyers.

But how many of us choose to follow our dreams and become what we want to be?

In the country I live in, numerous problematic circumstances prevail against the general masses that forces people to hustle for funds in ways that can be  absolutely amazing or downright mortifying. This need to "hustle" has given rise to a lot of ill practices such as copyright infringement, plagiarism, kidnapping, murder and assassination (not with ninjas no that might(italic) have been cool.

Nigerias’ economy doesn't give much leeway for dreams you see. Here in "9ja" , dreams are subject to monetary value. Everyone, more or less, is asked the same question. "Can it provide enough money for you, your family and look respectable?"

Yes? Go ahead.
No? Throway the tin.

We're forced to economize on our dreams because we see there's no room for getting rich up there in the bubble.

As if money is everything.

I’m sure you've heard that line "Money isn't everything", so many times by now that you're getting sick and tired of it. Money fever huh.. ? But hold the vomit - it's actually true. There are really many things money can't buy. Those things also just happen to be the most important things if all. All it can buy is the cheap knockoffs which only seem (italic + bold) to be similar.

Money can't buy truth.

Money can't buy happiness. It can only get comfort.

Money can't buy love.

Money can't buy respect.

Money can't buy wisdom. All it can buy you are the sources of knowledge

Money can't buy you dreams. But it can give you nightmares.

Let's look at the picture above for example. It's true that it's more comforting to cry in a car. But in the end you're still crying. It doesn't matter if you're crying in comfort or crying in austerity. Your heart doesn't ache any less at all.

Someone said that if you want to find a job that'll keep you happy, all you have to do is take away the money factor from the equation. If everyone in the country; doctors, lawyers, politicians, engineers; drivers, policemen, shopkeepers, bankers etc - EVERYONE - earned the exact same amount, what would YOU choose to be. What's your dream job?

In the end, all I want to tell you to do is to ...

Dream more.

Dream more.

DREAM more.

You DESERVE more.

Thanks for coming here :)
Love, Stars and Jam
