Drop Your Phone!! But after reading this though...

[5min read]

Is your phone the first thing you pick up in the morning? And also the last thing you use at the night ? Do you always have your phone with you? And do you feel empty/bored without it? Are you checking the DM during a BM?

Are you on Facebook when "U suppose de face book"? (Ok that was just terrible) anyways, if yes, oh boy! You are addicted to your phone and it's time to  cut it, cut it (woah), cut  it (yeah).

10 Weird things Nigerians eat.

[4mins read]

It is no exaggeration when it's said that Nigerians will eat anything and everything; Except each other though. After reading this, you'll quite agree with me. Below is a list of 10 weird items consumed by Nigerians:

1. Winged Termites
....yum?
My mum would always relate memories of collecting these creatures as a kid. They are weirdly attracted to fluorescent lights and often congregate around the lights during nightfall. They come out of the bush en masse when rain falls and start circling around any source of light that they see.

Nigerians pack them and roast them with salt inside the pot. The white fluid that sometimes comes out of them is not pleasing to the eye. However, it is claimed to be extremely delicious and crispy.

The Perfect Friend

[1 min read]

Boys and girls in the streets,
Laughing, joking, singing and dancing,
Making memories in the sun,
The summer sun in mid August.

Friends they think they really are,
Friends they think they have,
Friends they hope will never leave,
Friends who will still move from west to east.

The Transformation of a Story

[5 min Read]

What happened;
George was helping Cynthia carry her books back to the hostel, because she wasn't feeling too well. She's not sure what possessed her to carry all these books today. But at least someone was kind enough to help her with them back to her hostel.

She and George talked while walking, and she realized he was a pretty cool guy. They hadn't really had much of a conversation before today. Along the way they passed Henry, and she turned her head away from him because she really didn't want to deal with his stress right now. He had been asking her out for a while now, and she had turned down his advances because she wasn't even interested in a relationship right now. She had quite a lot to do and achieve - and she was excited about the future.

DEFEATED NOT - Episode 4

[4 min read]

My new mother and I got home around 7pm. I met my two new brothers and I honestly did not know what to do, because I had never really been around boys, it was difficult to know what to say or do, but I felt certain they would be better than the girls back at the house-that was what the orphanage was called. So I smiled and said good evening. I could not tell if they were happy or angry so I stopped smiling and bowed my head.

TAKE CHARGE

(A 2 min read)

One cannot stand to the corner and observe life,
as a phenomenon in a philosopher's mind,
Or a string of theories on a scientist's board,
Or even a little squabble to constitute our petty gossip.

A Call For Authenticity

[4 mins read]
What's wrong with the world?
What’s wrong with my generation? When did 'fake' become the new real?

When did we just begin to accept what's thrown at us? We no longer fight for what we believe in! We just accept what TV and society deems right and just! What the hell happened to our individuality? Our ability to think differently. That fountain of elixir that gave us authenticity. We are all so scared to be ourselves To show true feelings and express ourselves. We don't talk to each other anymore and now our communication and everything  is at ground zero!

TRAGEDY IN LAGOS

[2 mins read]

On the 28 of June, 2018, something terrible happened in our ever bubbly city of Lagos. A tanker, which had a brake failure loaded with PMS( Premium Motor Spirit) caught fire around Otedola bridge, Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Several cars with people in them set ablaze as the tanker exploded, it has been reported that 10 commuters burnt to death while 54 vehicles were consumed by the inferno.

This tragedy points out the defect in our road safety system in Nigeria. Under no circumstance should a tank driver endanger his life and others by driving a vehicle with brake failure.  Personally, I blame the Federal road safety corpse(FRSC) for this catastrophic event.  The driver knew that the highest a police could do is take a bribe, and he will be allowed to continue with his journey. Too many innocent lives were lost.

The government needs to enforce strict road safety laws especially to tank drivers or there should simply create a different route in which petroleum can be transported like other well-developed countries.

The picture above shows how petroleum is transported in Alberta Canada. As a nation we Nigerians need to take action. Instead of taking action, our leaders are asking us to pray.  How is prayer going to change bad road, bad security, bad governance, bad health care, bad educational system? It's time for action and prayers.

Oh! Dear Pain - episode 4

She was in the bathroom so Chris brought the phone to her and with a stern look on his face,
he said "Answer it".

She didn't understand his "visage" but she checked the Caller ID and it was Wilson her course mate.
She touched the answer button and was about to place it on her ear when Chris took the phone from her and put it on speaker.

Unpopular Opinion - Over The Top

[5 mins Read]

Just the other day, I was having a conversation with a friend of mine on the attitude of girls and guys, about how to act on attraction.

I, personally, don't like hints. But as much as I don't like hints, I also wouldn't appreciate having a large lump of love thrown into my face. Be gentle with it. It's not a do-or-die affair. some of the biggest problems with love, romance and attraction are a bad approach, and a discrepancy in communication.

I was told that "A girl can only give so many hints. That most guys want a girl with her dignity still intact".
