A Call For Authenticity

[4 mins read]
What's wrong with the world?
What’s wrong with my generation? When did 'fake' become the new real?

When did we just begin to accept what's thrown at us? We no longer fight for what we believe in! We just accept what TV and society deems right and just! What the hell happened to our individuality? Our ability to think differently. That fountain of elixir that gave us authenticity. We are all so scared to be ourselves To show true feelings and express ourselves. We don't talk to each other anymore and now our communication and everything  is at ground zero!

Majority of my generation wallow in self induced depression over how many likes or comments we have, or what some douche in our class thinks about us. Because apparently that’s all that matters! And this is all thanks to the culture we’ve been cheated into believing in where individuality and authenticity is retarded and retardation and intellectual dependency(herd mentality)  is dope AF.
What culture am I talking about?

I'll tell you. Pop Culture,Yes "Pop culture" - all of it - commercials, Billboards, TV,  Magazines and so on. They all began to push the air brush perfected life agenda to us, and like a little unattended crack in a windshield, It spread  until we couldn’t see no more, and now no one can see the truth. Now We all to Look at the world through the lens of social media,

Where every one's life seems so perfect, you know what i mean. People flashing bikini boobs and bodies , I mean you can flash your boobs, show off your photoshop enhanced or real packs, have thousands of likes, but the real question is do you have sense?

Everyone’s checking into the hottest places on Facebook, Insta posts with only happy faces and stupid pictures from people that bought canon cameras, and now believe they are pro photographers.

Snaps with the perfect highlight and skin, tweets about the perfect job, boo, car and life and let’s not forget the wise quotes that fill up statuses and tweets because, on social media everyone’s suddenly a wiseman.

All these create an unrealistic benchmark for happiness that people can't achieve. Like it or not, we are all told consciously and unconsciously that we aren’t happy because we can’t reach these benchmarks. Launching people into a state of depression, and we are all stuck in this filter bubble where we've lost our authenticity, exposure to conflicting viewpoints and isolated intellectuality. Majority of the world pretends we’re in utopia, and everything is perfect, like they don’t see the  bombings , or whats it or what's not. Soon we’ll all be clones of ourselves. To some it may seem like bullshit. To others it's an eye opener.

But to me, it’s a call for authenticity!
