The Case - Chapter Two

Chapter Two:

The leader's body laid lifeless on the ground, and in an instant the other three turned around with their weapons facing the streets, backing Chris and Jake.

They both lunged at two of the thugs, simultaneously locking each into a sleeper hold, knocking them out cold and dispossessing them of their guns. One was left staring in utter confusion. Chris aimed his gun and took the safety off.

"Seems the tables have turned my dear friend", Chris said.

"...I think he just peed his pants", said Jake.

"Do I do the honours or should you?"
"You go ahead, take it as your birthday present for last year", replied Jake.
"You're under arrest for attempted murder ... and unbelievable stupidity", said Chris happily.

"Don't forget peeing in public", Jake added.
"Right, for relieving yourself in public too. Anything you say or do will be used against you in the court of law, so please say something."

Sirens could be heard close by. Backup had arrived.

"Freeze! Washington PD!".
Chris and Jake flashed their badges.

"It's alright fellas we caught him, what took you so long?", asked Jake.

The police led the three thugs in handcuffs into one of the cars and taped the area as a crime scene. A man walked up to Chris and held up his badge.

"I'm detective Connor, FBI, you boys were lucky out there"
"Nah we got skills, mad skills", Chris said, while making gestures like a retarded Chuck Norris.

"I assume YOU are the smart one", said Connor extending a hand to Jake.
"You couldn't have been more right", Jake said trying to sound important.
"You boys follow me to the station. We've got some questions concerning the dead body"
"Wait, you guys didn't shoot him?", Chris asked.
"Are you implying neither of you killed that man? 'Cause that's gonna be a problem for your district"

"Oh just great, this guy manages to die and still kills me", Chris said.

******************************************

Back at the station, the boys got high fives from all corners. They were getting some heavy love from people in the station. They were a bunch of wack jobs normally, but they were funny and nice.

"Hey, guys! D.A. wants to see you in his office!", shouted officer Raymond, over the loud noise of people cheering.

They walked into the DA's office, for the first time without wanting to kill themselves. They had just stopped a murder, and even managed to reel the culprits in. Well... most of them.

"Boys, I've never dreamed I'd say this, 'cause if I did I wouldn't sleep.... but, I'm proud of ya"

The DA's words made the boys blush, but they quickly became men again a few seconds later, hardening their faces. The DA flashed a few photos on the desk, and told them to take a look. It was the leader that was murdered.

"Jones, what's this?"

"It's a file on the thugs you brought in. They're some kinda group from the streets, that sorta oversees crimes around town. They showed up here in Washington about a year ago. Crime waves have gone way up to 40%; burglars, robbers, muggers. Even with reports of a guy
putting a cat on a tree... on purpose".

"Bunch of sadists", Jake said.

"They're heavy on arnmunition", Jones continued. "The robbers these days have advanced, classified weapons, and we havent located the source yet, but we're working on it".

Chris gulped so loudly that Jake flinched.

"You boys watch your back out there. These guys don't let go without a fight. Of course, you realize that word will spread and they'll be coming for revenge. Besides, it'll be hard to find two other cops who can polish shoes like you guys".

"What's the name of the gang?", Jake asked.
"Something stupid ... the Wasabi Gang"
"Sounds like a show on nickelodeon", joked Chris.

"...Get outta my office before I kill you and send TMNT on the job", Jones said menacingly.

"Yes sir!". Both saluted and ran out to the corridor. They stood gazing at two beautiful cops who had just came in from patrol duty.

Jasmine and Susan were sisters who joined the force about the same time as they did. Jasmine was older, a young beautiful brunette with long flowing hair. Susan was a blonde with blue eyes, and she looked like she could do gymnastics.

"Hey guys, great job out there tonight" Jasmine winked at Chris. She had a thing for him.

"Well you know.... it was nothing. Just a few gunshots that's all, I was kinda worried about Jake ‘cause he was scared".

Chris could feel Jake's look burning fire at him at the side of his head. He knew a slap was coming.

"Why don't you join us for dinner tomorrow night? I hope you guys can make it since we've got the weekend off"
"Sure we'll be there", she replied.

"It's at A La Lucia. Be there at 7.... I hope you like Italian?", Susan said smiling.
"Will do, girl ... will do" Jake winked at Susan. Chris wanted to throw up.
"Well... we'll see you guys later" Susan chuckled

They left the boys there. The boys went out of the station and headed home, and on the way Jake gave Chris the slap he deserved.

******************************************

"How do I look?", Jake asked, showing off his suit.

"You look like a dinosaur egg wearing a tux"
"Idiot... I look good and you know it"
"Don't forget your mouth spray. No one wants to go through that again"

"Moron"
"How do I look?" Chris standing up and posing as Tom Cruise
"Like a stunt double of jackie chan.... what's that on your shirt? That red stain", Jake asked.

"What red stain?", Chris asked looking at his suit. It was a red dot moving down to his heart.

"Get down!"
The bullet hit the mirror and the pieces came crashing down. They had found them.

"Can't I get a break?! Lord, please, just one date!"
Bullets came in, flying everywhere. Chris grabbed his pistol and threw Jake his. They bolted while crouching around the house. They got to the back door, and Chris hit it open. Two guys were already waiting for them, and pointing their guns. More came into the house. They were trapped.

"What the hell are we gonna do now?!", Jake panicked.
