Lying About Nigeria

[3min Read]
*Drumroll*

You know how people like saying rubbish about certain countries? All the stereotypes that really aren't true? Like how everyone in America loves guns and wears cowboy boots, or everyone in England had teatime by 12pm?
You people will believe anything.

Let me tell you about all the wrong things people say about Nigeria.
Wait till you see all the rubbish.

Okay maybe not all. Just 10.
You're not paying me after all.

They claim that our jollof rice is not the best.
Imagine the effrontery. Saying, "The sun is not hot", "The ocean has no water"

That we are all extremely happy. Imagine.
Have you seen our economy? How am I going to be happy when N10 groundnut has now become N20. The only thing I can buy now with N10 is pure water!

That we all have oil in our backyards,
And I'm here still using a core i3 laptop? Okay. Ha Ha.

That we are all extremely good at sex.
Like, where did you get these statistics from?
Well. I don't know. This one might be true. I haven't yet found out.

That we are all corrupt.
No, no. What you mean, is most of our leaders. I know there's this saying that "everyone is a leader", but that doesn't count here. Not for this one abeg.

That we are all online fraudsters.
30 billion in all our accounts.
Please. Only like 30% of the country is computer literate. And only like 15% of that number can actually use the technology appropriately. Some people only use their phone for candy crush and calling one of their 3 baes.

That our girls are not the finest. You must be joking though.
This isn't even the finest. I just don't want to reveal all our cards yet.

That there are only 3 tribes. Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba.
There are like 250+ ethnic groups in this country. We are diverse. Yes.

That ALL of Nigeria either looks like this
No.

Or like this
No.

That we have Speed Darlington.
We don't. He has US. By the throat. Please save us.

That our movies are trash.
Please excuse me. We have the 3rd biggest film industry in the world. We export entertainment.
Ya' better ask somebody.

And last for today is that "Nigerian schools are trash."
This is not true. Though, I will admit that some schools (a lot, actually) are less than up to par. But we also have really amazing ones as well. Both Secondary Schools and Universities (Colleges).
