Fist Fight (2017) - Movie Review

RATING: 8 out of 10

SUMMARY: A meek, mild-mannered and somewhat ingratiating high school teacher, Andy Campbell (played by Charlie Day) - is challenged by fellow teacher, the harsh, no-nonsense Ron Strickland (played by Ice Cube) - to a fight in the school courtyard at the end of the last day of school, because Andy made him lose his job. This leads to many shenanigans as Andy tries to avoid the fight, but seems to just keep making things worse.

REVIEW: Overall, I would rate this movie as 8 out of 10. The performances by the actors were nice and compelling, from the whinny ‘nice-guy’ persona portrayed by Charlie Day’s 'Andy Campbell' to the stalwart belief in harsh discipline by Ice Cube’s Ron Strickland, as well as Jillian Bell’s supporting role as 'Holly', the creepy guidance counselor who seeks to have sex with students once they turn 18, and also buys drugs from them.

The situation in the school also shows what happens in many American schools today, serving as a nice critique for the American education system, and the movie was rife with jokes filled sexual humor; from under achieving students celebrating their last day of school, including a rampaging horse that was high on meth.

Though the actors and directors did an excellent job with the movie, I believe that there was a lack of relatable characters. Other than that, it is an excellent movie that will leave you chuckling even after it’s over.
