East of Eden is a novel written by John Steinbeck and published in 1952. It is a biblical recreation of Cain and Abel woven into the Salinas valley of California, which in a way depicts the garden of Eden. It tells the story of the Trasks brothers (Adam and Charles) and it is quite an east of perfection redefined.
Although full of content, it is not in any way redundant or boring, and it arouses a certain kind of curiosity that keeps the reader coming back for more. I particularly loved all the different variations of siblings relationship, Father/son relationship that ranged from beautiful and normal to dysfunctional and sad.
Well, since no literary work can boast of absolute perfection, East of Eden is not an exception and you are bound to come across certain nerve wrecking scenarios as you read on which also makes it a 'figure out on your own' type of novel.
