10 times "The Simpsons' predicted the future

Throughout the history of this classic adult-themed cartoon, we've been assaulted with jokes and ridiculous situations in it's runtime - some of which have scarily come true. After the recent Mayweather vs Mcgregor fight (last in the list), we started taking a close look at all the times they've secretly shown us the future.

1. Donald Trump becoming president
Aired in year 2000, we have a satire at America's apparent decline in leadership qualities, with predictions of Trump causing trouble. Funny how that's what's happening today.

2. The Ebola Virus outbreak
The episode first aired in 1997 where Marge tels Bart to read a book called 'Curious George and the Ebola Virus', and the outbreak is officially announced in Congo to the WHO in 2014.
Honestly, maybe we should be taking cues from this cartoon to be preparing.

3. Stealing of Obamas' votes
A Simpsons episode that tells a story of voting machines that changed voters choices from Barack Obama to John McCain. This apparently later happened in real life in 2012 when votes were switched from Barack Obama to Mitt Romney, his rival.
I see what you did there...

4. Mutant tomatoes
Seen in a 1999 episode when Marge finds out that their tomato crop has been mutated by radiation. This is later seen in real life in Japan 2011.

5. The ipod
Here, the device design is used as an intercom at a gate. This isn't the first time that The Simpsons have predicted apple products, check other items in the list to seem more.
Deep

6. Skpe/Facetime
In 1995, the cartoon showed a future where Lisa communicates with her mother, Marge, through a video call, long before Facetime/Skype etc existed.
This kind of phone though... hmmm

7. Autocorrect fails
In this episode, a device changes the sentence written on it from "Beat up martin" to "eat up Martha", just like todays devices like changing our sentences and names from Ireoluwa to Irene. Or hungry to horny. Or Game of Thrones to Game of Throbs.
Imagine. Maybe this autocorrect thing was done on purpose as an inside joke sef.

8. Smartwatches
The Simpsons have a funny way of predicting Apple's consumer products. Are they secretly supporting each other, with the cartoon subconsciously pushing people to buy their overpriced brand devices? Who knows....
Oh Apple. What an innovate company. What will they 'invent' next.. ?

9. NSA scandal
Though this was featured in the 2007 movie, it came true in 2013, after information on the covert programme was leaked in 2013.
America sef. They don;t even trust themselves.

10. Mayweather vs Mcgreggor Fight
Admittedly, this one is kind out there, because realistically, it only shows Homer Simpson fighting an African American boxer - and not anything about either of the two famed fighters. But hey, the imagery is still on point right?
The face on Mcgregor/Homer though...

Maybe someone should go question the writers at The Simpsons to explain what's going on. This is getting creepy. Then again - if they could predict lottery numbers for me, or even my upcoming exam questions, maybe I won't be complaining so much...
